A Self-Care Mindset for 2023

The New Year is here and a great opportunity for us to make small changes in our lives to help us live a more grounded and healthy lifestyle. We want to make small changes everyday so we can fill our cup to support the people, loved ones and things around us that matter most.

In this blog we want to give you healthful tips to start making small changes in your life to feel more joy, abundance, self-love as well as feel better in your bodies.

Taking time everyday to stop and breathe:
This is my most taught and favorite practice taught at EGB. This is taking 3 deep belly breaths to create more “white space.” When we feel stress, resistance or too much energy from the world around us it is important to drop back into our own bodies.

Here is how to do it:

  • Find a quiet space; bathroom, closet, car, anywhere to take a few minutes or more.

  • Close your eyes and imagine you have roots coming out the soles of the feet connecting you with the earth, take 3 deep belly breaths (more if needed)

  • Do this style of breathing until you feel your energy shift and a sensation that you have dropped into your body.

  • Feel this shift and come back as often as you can through the day.

Morning rituals:
It is important to start the day with a healthy mindset. Wake up a little early to put your feet on the ground, breathe and envision the day ahead. Make a list of affirmations to keep by the bed or in your bathroom, wherever you start the day from, really! I’ve even had a client who goes in the bathroom in the dark and uses the toilet first thing and does her mantras on the toilet, first thing. Really, this is more about a regular routine or a ritual than the perfect place or time. Find something that works for you!

Suggested mantras:

  • I am worthy of love and abundance

  • I am a healthy, strong and beautiful being

  • My inner light deserves to be seen in the world

  • I don't let negative thoughts control me

  • I deserve all of the magic life will send my way today

  • I am a beautiful and unique being and authentically show up as myself everyday

Make time to feel your best:

This can be really challenging - all those other demands of life really get in the way here! I so often hear the "excuse” that I don’t have time for that or there’s just not enough time in the day! Yes - I understand how you can feel this way - carving out time for self care can sometimes mean letting go of something that’s not serving you or ending a habit that could be replaced by a better one.

Some ideas to feel your best:

  • Creating a morning Self-Care Ritual, this could be your skin care routine, a warm cup of tea or journaling or mediating, or maybe a morning shower or bath.

  • Take time to move your body when you wake up - maybe some stretching or yoga?

  • Gentle Cleanse, Tone, Serum and Oil with Gua Sha to wake up and energize the skin or a daily moisturizers.

Show your natural beauty:
Spend extra time and money in our morning ritual routines and less time covering things up with makeup.

Some ideas to get that natural glow:

  • Add in more healthful products at home. If you are using a deodorant or face with a lot of things in the ingredient list you don't know. start by switching those up.

  • A face wash is a good opportunity to feel what quality and balancing products feel like: We love the aloe cleansing gel for all skin types! It is a balancing and calming wash with aloe vera, coconut oil and lavender so start or end each day with your skin feeling good.

  • A deodorant is a must to change if you are using one with a lot of chemicals. It is important to allow the body to perspire. Anytime your change a deodorant there is an adjustment period, maybe a rash, a little extra stink especially if this armpit needs to detox a little.  I love a crystal deodorant and they last forever

  • Spend more time outside

  • Cook more healthy meals at home

At EGB we want everyone to feel their best everyday and we strive to offer the best tools: mentally, physically and emotionally to help everyone do this. If you have tried one of these techniques or have a tip for us please contact us, we would love to hear from you.

With Glowing Gratitude,
